(Black PR Wire) A new series of events called Workforce Development Place-Based Trainings (PBTs) are making a big impact for students attending institutions in the\u00a0Thurgood Marshall College Fund<\/a>\u00a0(TMCF) network.<\/p>\n

As part of its ongoing commitment to preparing students for the workforce and deepening employer partnerships, TMCF conducted PBTs at\u00a0Shelton State Community College<\/a>,\u00a0Drake State Community & Technical College<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0St. Philip\u2019s College<\/a>\u00a0in April.<\/p>\n

During the event, historically Black community college (HBCC) students learned about careers, explored pathways that felt tangible and sharpened their professional skills.<\/p>\n

\u201cPlace-Based Trainings are an excellent way to meet students where they are,\u201d Dr. Harry L. Williams, president & CEO of TMCF, said. \u201cThe response from our students and campus and corporate partners has been outstanding.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dr. Williams said the shift reflects TMCF\u2019s focus on expanding access and creating more intentional, regionally aligned opportunities for engagement between students and external partners.<\/p>\n

\u201cThrough the new model, our employer partners have the opportunity to connect with our students in more intentional ways, aligned to workforce needs and geographic priorities,\u201d Dr. Williams said.<\/p>\n

TMCF invited\u00a0HBCCs to join<\/a>\u00a0as member institutions in 2023.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdding community colleges to our membership is part of an intentional move toward a more inclusive talent strategy. A four-year degree is one path but not the only path to career success,\u201d Dr. Williams said in the announcement of the first campuses to join the organization.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
