{"id":6646,"date":"2025-02-22T20:42:23","date_gmt":"2025-02-22T20:42:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africanamericanvoice.net\/?p=6646"},"modified":"2025-02-22T20:42:23","modified_gmt":"2025-02-22T20:42:23","slug":"we-will-not-be-erased","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/africanamericanvoice.net\/?p=6646","title":{"rendered":"WE WILL NOT BE ERASED"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-lfzxt115\" class=\"j-JU7 WOBLT iRNRX KdLlf\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"eyR0C\">The 47th President has attacked our government like a bull in a China closet.\u00a0 He is doing his best to upend precedent and policy, as he promised that he would.\u00a0 He issued hundreds of executive orders, pardoned convicted criminals (like himself), manipulated the truth through websites, abolished DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion measures), putting hundreds on administrative leave, and caused more damage in just a few days than most do in a lifetime.\u00a0 Additionally, wholesale deportations of undocumented people have shattered families, disrupted communities, and upended some international relationships.\u00a0 Wow!\u00a0 The folks who chose to stay home during this election are regretting it.\u00a0 There were those who said that he wouldn\u2019t be \u201cso bad\u201d, but he has been worse than we could ever have imagined.\u00a0 But it is what most voters, that is those who were not suppressed out, chose.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-hook=\"rcv-block5\"><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<div id=\"viewer-3zpgz321\" class=\"j-JU7 WOBLT iRNRX KdLlf\" dir=\"auto\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The Department of Defense, zealous acolytes genuflecting at the President\u2019s anti-DEI stance, decided to scrub references to the Tuskegee Airmen in their Air Force training videos.\u00a0 Within days, his morally compromised choice and marginally selected Secretary of Defense reversed that decision.\u00a0 The Tuskegee Airmen videos are back in.\u00a0 This is not cause for celebration.\u00a0 The fact that the anti-DEI forces that now reign could attempt to erase history, and they will continue to attempt to rewrite reality.\u00a0 Erasing the Tuskegee Airmen is at the tip of the iceberg.\u00a0 These people are so creative that they can turn a violent insurrection into a benign Capitol tour, although who comes to a Capitol tour with weapons and bear spray?\u00a0 The violent, rabid, insurrection crowd has been described by the current President as \u201cpeaceful\u201d \u201chostages\u201d, even as many have been convicted of assault against law enforcement officers.\u00a0 If they can erase the unlawful actions of January 6, they can attempt to erase the massive contributions of African American people to this country.\u00a0 We will not be erased.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-hook=\"rcv-block7\"><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<div id=\"viewer-zidfq309\" class=\"j-JU7 WOBLT iRNRX KdLlf\" dir=\"auto\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Dr. Carter G. Woodson, founder of Negro History Week, now African American History Month, established our historical presence because of our nation\u2019s tendency to forget injustice.\u00a0 Many, like Presidential sidekick Elon Musk, who has encouraged Germans to move \u201cpast guilt\u201d of the Holocaust, indeed exhorting them not to \u201close\u201d their culture \u201cin some sort of multiculturalism\u201d.\u00a0 He is the Trump whisperer, and it is likely that he and 47 are having similar conversations about the role that multiculturalism and an acknowledgement of has in contemporary society.\u00a0 They don\u2019t want to go back and embrace our flawed past. Instead, they\u2019d prefer to swallow our difference with a since of misplaced pride in our past.\u00a0 Make America Great Again?\u00a0 Really, when was it ever great for the exploited.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-hook=\"rcv-block9\"><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<div id=\"viewer-7m85u297\" class=\"j-JU7 WOBLT iRNRX KdLlf\" dir=\"auto\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 The unsuccessful attempt to erase Tuskegee from Air Force training tapes is not the worst thing this administration has done.\u00a0 Abruptly halting federal grand programs, including food assistance, impact millions and is an unnecessary flexing of power muscles.\u00a0 Peremptorily and illegally firing inspectors general in several government departments is a bullying tactic.\u00a0 Somebody does not want inspectors general because they do not want illegal actions to be inspected.\u00a0 With skillful manipulation of the facts, there are those who can characterize them as justified, no illegal and non-Constitutional acts.\u00a0 We are in an era with truth doesn\u2019t matter.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-hook=\"rcv-block11\"><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-b30f0123\" class=\"j-JU7 WOBLT iRNRX KdLlf\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"eyR0C\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 CNN anchor Jim Acosta abruptly announced his departure from the network on January 28.\u00a0 He left an ominous parting message \u2013 \u201cIt is never a good time to bow down to a tyrant\u2026Don\u2019t give in to the lies.\u00a0 Don\u2019t give into the fear.\u00a0 Hold onto the truth and hope\u201d. I\u2019m grateful to Acosta for putting it out there, and disappointed that so many others are holding their tongues and currying favor with the Felon-in-Chief.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div data-hook=\"rcv-block13\"><\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"normal\">\n<p id=\"viewer-cp79q125\" class=\"j-JU7 WOBLT iRNRX KdLlf\" dir=\"auto\"><span class=\"eyR0C\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Where does that leave African American people?\u00a0 We are living in a sad and empowering time.\u00a0 What did we do before government assistance?\u00a0 What did we do before federal dollars subsidized our Black History Month celebrations?\u00a0 What did we do without DEI programs?\u00a0 We survived.
