That\u2019s going to increase, you know, that\u2019s the right thing for the wealthiest nation in the world to do,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-1 \">\n<div class=\"newspack_global_ad scaip-1 fixed-height\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-caf9af3267-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p>Hosted by the United States and Angola, the Lobito Trans-Africa Corridor Summit brought together leaders from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Tanzania, and Zambia to accelerate infrastructure projects to connect the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Central to these efforts, under the Lobito Trans-Africa Corridor initiative, is the Zambia-Lobito rail project, a transformative 800-kilometer line linking Angola and Zambia, with groundbreaking targeted for 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Louren\u00e7o called Biden\u2019s visit a \u201ckey turning point\u201d in U.S.-Angola relations.<\/p>\n<p>Biden agreed: \u201cThe United States is all in on Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-biden-fulfills-his-promise-lourenco-shares-priorities-for-u-s-angola-relations-nbsp\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Biden Fulfills His Promise, Louren\u00e7o Shares Priorities for U.S.-Angola Relations\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>President Biden fulfilled his long-promised trip to Africa after rescheduling due to Hurricane Milton\u2019s impact on the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Angola\u2019s national and international politicians viewed the visit as a chance to bolster trade agreements with the U.S. and increase their opportunities for foreign investments while announcing the success of partnerships with the Western hemisphere.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-2 \">\n<div class=\"newspack_global_ad scaip-2 fixed-height\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-2bd992b9b0-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cWe want to work together attracting U.S. direct full investment to Angola, opening business and opportunity for Angolan businessmen to the U.S. market,\u201d President Jo\u00e3o Louren\u00e7o of Angola said during a Tuesday meeting with Biden.<\/p>\n<p>He requested access to military schools and training for the country\u2019s armed forces resembling the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtoninformer.com\/kenya-president-ruto-us-visit\/\">recent partnership<\/a>\u00a0announced for Kenyan scholars.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe would like to see U.S. investors engaged in construction of power transmission lines, in high-voltage under public-private partnerships for southern African countries, namely for the region of Copperbelt in Zambia and DRC, as well as for Namibia, connecting to the southern countries\u2019 power grid,\u201d Louren\u00e7o added referencing opportunities for communal growth amid infrastructure bids.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-driving-regional-economic-growth\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Driving Regional Economic Growth<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>The Lobito Trans-Africa Corridor is part of the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGI), a U.S.-led initiative focused on infrastructure projects that promote inclusive economic growth. Total U.S. investments in the Corridor now exceed $4 billion, with international commitments surpassing $6 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Agriculture and food security remain key components of the initiative. Biden celebrated the first shipment of goods from Angola\u2019s Carrinho Group along the Corridor to the DRC, marking a milestone in regional trade. Biden said the U.S. is also investing in sustainable farming practices and infrastructure, enabling smallholder farmers to access markets and enhance production.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-3 \">\n<div class=\"newspack_global_ad scaip-3 fixed-height\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-dc2e0e383b-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cThese investments aren\u2019t just about aid; they\u2019re about creating opportunities, building infrastructure, and unlocking the potential of this region,\u201d Biden said during his remarks.<\/p>\n<p>President Louren\u00e7o also highlighted U.S.-Angola collaborative projects that improve their ability to respond to devastating natural disasters.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur AngoSat 2 project is working with NASA and Maxar in acquisition of high-resolution satellite images for monitoring natural disasters, namely in the implementation of our national program of fight against the effects of droughts in the southern part of Angola, PCESSA,\u201d the Angolan leader shared.<\/p>\n<p>These intersecting projects will be presented and discussed in June 2025, when Angola hosts the U.S.-Africa Business Summit.<\/p>\n<p>The nation\u2019s officials hope that it will bring politicians, entrepreneurs, scholars, and civil society from the U.S. and Africa closer, improving the sectors of businesses, history, culture and various cross-interests.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"scaip scaip-4 \">\n<div class=\"newspack_global_ad scaip-4 fixed-height\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-ca419f6974-0\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<h2 id=\"h-energy-and-digital-connectivity\" class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Energy and Digital Connectivity<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Clean energy projects are also at the forefront.
