{"id":1871,"date":"2021-05-12T07:35:23","date_gmt":"2021-05-12T07:35:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africanamericanvoice.net\/?p=1871"},"modified":"2021-08-22T07:40:33","modified_gmt":"2021-08-22T07:40:33","slug":"black-leaders-business-owners-call-out-stacey-abrams-and-demand-dialogue-with-corporate-america-about-the-diversity-of-opinions-in-the-black-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/africanamericanvoice.net\/?p=1871","title":{"rendered":"Black leaders, business owners call out Stacey Abrams and demand dialogue with corporate America about the diversity of opinions in the Black community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"tbp_post_meta_before\">By<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prnewswire.com\/news\/black-americans-for-a-better-future-education-fund\/\"><strong>Black Americans for a Better Future Education Fund<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"xn-location\">ATLANTA<\/span>,\u00a0<span class=\"xn-chron\">May 11, 2021<\/span>\u00a0\/PRNewswire\/ &#8212; A coalition of Black business owners and community leaders held a press conference today to demand that corporate leaders, particularly\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Atlanta<\/span>-based companies take the time to understand the diversity of opinions within the Black community before taking sides on political matters.<\/p>\n<p>The group called out the misleading rhetoric of far-left activist\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Stacey Abrams<\/span>\u00a0regarding the Georgia Election Integrity Act, reminding corporate America that the failed gubernatorial candidate does not speak for the interests or the opinions of all Black people.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<span class=\"xn-person\">Stacey Abrams<\/span>\u00a0doesn&#8217;t speak for the Black community; she speaks for the White liberals who bankroll her political ambitions,&#8221; said\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Raynard Jackson<\/span>, founder and chairman of the Black Americans for a Better Future Education Fund, which co-hosted the event with the Georgia Black Republican Council. &#8220;<span class=\"xn-person\">Stacey Abrams<\/span>\u00a0doesn&#8217;t actually care about making it easier for Black people to vote; she only cares about making it easier for Democrats to vote.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The press conference participants said Abrams has deliberately misled people about numerous provisions of the Election Integrity Act \u2013 such as voter ID requirements, electioneering restrictions, and early voting rules \u2013 to fit her preconceived talking point that the law is &#8220;<span class=\"xn-person\">Jim Crow<\/span>\u00a0in a suit and tie.&#8221; That rhetoric, they said, provoked a knee-jerk reaction by the CEOs of companies such as Delta and Coke, which wrongly assumed that Abrams was speaking on behalf of all Black people.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Black people aren&#8217;t stupid, but\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Stacey Abrams<\/span>\u00a0treats us like we are when she suggests that we aren&#8217;t even capable of obtaining a photo ID,&#8221; said Dr.\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Lisa Babbage<\/span>\u00a0of the Georgia Black Republican Council. &#8220;Frankly, it&#8217;s insulting that corporate leaders were so willing to go along with her narrative of Black helplessness, and it&#8217;s patronizing that they thought they were advancing the interest of Black voters by opposing this common-sense effort to ensure free and fair elections for all Georgians.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Speakers at the press conference also pointed out that the rhetoric by\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Stacey Abrams<\/span>\u00a0and President\u00a0<span class=\"xn-person\">Joe Biden<\/span>\u00a0directly influenced the MLB&#8217;s decision to move the 2021 All-Star Game out of\u00a0<span class=\"xn-location\">Atlanta<\/span>.
