{"id":1507,"date":"2021-02-17T18:46:15","date_gmt":"2021-02-17T18:46:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/africanamericanvoice.net\/?p=1507"},"modified":"2021-02-17T18:46:15","modified_gmt":"2021-02-17T18:46:15","slug":"candidate-proclaims-that-healing-america-should-begin-in-louisianas-5th-congressional-district","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/africanamericanvoice.net\/?p=1507","title":{"rendered":"Candidate proclaims that healing America should begin in Louisiana&#8217;s 5th Congressional District"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><i>By: Committee to Elect Errol Victor, Sr.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><b>MONROE, La.<\/b>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<b>Jan. 26, 2021<\/b>\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prlog.org\/\">PRLog<\/a><\/i>\u00a0&#8212; Reverend Errol Victor, Sr. is described as &#8220;a visionary, father, and entrepreneur who became one of the many wrongfully convicted Americans&#8221;. \u00a0But Victor beat the odds. \u00a0In April 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) vacated his conviction on grounds that it was reached by a less than unanimous jury verdict. \u00a0In\u00a0<i>Victor v. the State of Louisiana<\/i>, case #19-5989 before SCOTUS, Victor&#8217;s lawyer explained that &#8220;without the assistance of counsel and in a trial that was significantly marred with substantial violations of the United States Constitution, (Victor) was wrongfully convicted by non-unanimous 10-2 verdict of second-degree murder&#8221;. \u00a0The conviction was vacated, but the State of Louisiana has yet to release Victor, essentially holding him hostage amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, without even an opportunity to post bail. Prosecutors instead spin a false story, overlooking their related violations of law and mischaracterizing Reverend Victor as a flight risk, backed by a fictional portrayal of him on the t.v. series &#8220;America&#8217;s Most Wanted&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Undaunted as he has been since the day purported Louisiana law enforcers turned the tragic death of his stepson into a nightmare criminal prosecution, Reverend Victor is now a candidate for U.S. Representative for the 5th Congressional District (R-La), running from behind bars.
